Judaism. Judas is a distant ancestor of king David. 1880s the term is included in science, has a non-Jewish origin and comes from the Greek word meaning ” the way of life of the Greeks.” General characteristics of the national state religion, a monotheistic religion, an Abrahamic religion. Origin – 2 thousand years BC on the territory near Palestine from the East.

The Tenets Of Judaism:

  • faith in the one God
  • faith in the coming of the Messiah (the ideal king, the messenger of God)

-faith in God’s chosen people the Jewish people

  • belief in the immortality of the soul
  • faith in the afterlife and retribution
  • faith in the resurrection of the dead

Cult

Prayer is the most common rite in Judaism. At least 10 men should gather for prayer. The Tefillin is attached to the forehead, two tightly closed cubical boxes with straps attached to their bases. The cubes are filled with parchment covered with old Testament text. The ritual of wearing Tefillin is associated with the ancient custom of wearing amulets, which allegedly play the role of supernatural defenders of man.

Mezuzah and quote. Mezuzah-a piece of parchment on which verses from Deuteronomy are written. The rolled scroll is placed in a wooden or metal case and attached to the door jamb. Mezuzah-a magical tool that can, as believers believe, protect them from unwanted actions of evil spirits.Tsitsit-brushes from woolen threads attached to the edges of the Arba-kanfota, i.e. to a quadrangular piece of cloth, dressed by religious Jews under the outer clothing. Like mezuzah, cicit “protects from all evil.”

3 main things in the cult: Tshuva-repentance (return to the right path), Tfila-joining God, tzedakah concept is associated with charity, close to the word “justice” in Hebrew, and justice requires a Jew to give donations.

Holidays

  • Passover / Passover (Exodus from Egypt)

-Shavuot/Shabuoth(the feast of Pentecost the giving of the Torah) on the fiftieth day after the second day of Easter

  • Sukkot (Tabernacle)

All holidays are celebrated according to the lunar calendar

  • Kosher-suitability of food for the chosen
  • Clubs – unsuitability of food for consumption
